Acura MDX type S jaune

2022 Acura MDX Type S: The MDX as You've Never Seen It Before!

The MDX SUV is one of Acura's signature pieces, born at the turn of the millennium. In fact, it was one of the first Acura luxury SUVs to hit the market. At the time, it was quite the trendsetter. Since then, it has been joined by other players in the segment, so it has become somewhat less visible. Not less relevant; just less visible.

With the next generation coming in 2022, Acura is making sure to bring its special star back to the forefront with a two-pronged strategy. First, with a serious redesign that makes the MDX more effective than ever. Then, with the addition of a Type S variant, a first for the model.

And when Acura mentions the Type S name, heads turn. We're talking performance, of course, but also style, refinement, and a unique driving experience.

Here's what's in store for us with the 2022 Acura MDX Type S, a vehicle you can come and admire at your Acura Laval dealer near Terrebonne, Sainte-Thérèse, Boisbriand and just a few minutes from Montreal. We have Acura MDXs for sale as well as many other new Acura models and reliable, high-performance used vehicles waiting for you. As for the release date of the new MDX Type S, it is expected by the end of the year.

Unique and Eye-Catching Design

For a long time, Acura has been forced to endure criticism regarding the design of its vehicles. Even if it remains a matter of taste, Acura decided to make extra efforts to offer creations with a more particular, more attractive, and appealing design

What a colossal job they pulled off! As we've seen with other products in the family like the TLX sedan, the new visual signature of Honda's luxury brand is magnificent. With the MDX, it makes sense since this model is the flagship of the division.

The front grille, in particular, is recognizable by moons, while the profile and rear end exude elegance with a sleek approach and bold styling cues.

What’s more, all this is reinforced with a more aggressive signature with the Type S variant. This is noticeable at the front with more prominent air intakes, but also at the rear with an exhaust that takes on four shapes. Not to mention the sides where we discover with pleasure the presence, through the front rims, of red calipers signed Brembo, the reference in braking! Clearly, you won't go unnoticed on the road with a 2022 Acura MDX Type S.

However, you won’t get attention only for its styling. In fact, if the style is different, especially at the front with the aforementioned air intakes, it's because under the hood, Acura will offer the most powerful engine in the history of its SUV. This engine, which will also be found in the TLX Type S sedan, is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. All this will be enough to propel the performance SUV to 100 km/h in less than six seconds.

This engine will work in tandem with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a model of efficiency. Needless to say, the brand's all-wheel-drive system, one of the industry's benchmarks, will be part of the equation. The latter is called SH-AWD for Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.

A Job Well Done

Finally, we couldn't talk about an Acura product without touching on one of the most important aspects regarding this manufacturer, and one that is essential for anyone who wants to acquire a luxury SUV: quality.

As soon as you step inside the MDX, it's obvious. The visual presentation is spot on, but the same can be said for the layout of the controls; everything is easy to grasp. What's more, the information conveyed to the driver, whether it's in front of him on the instrument panel or on the multimedia system screen, is clear and easy to review.

Add to that a tangible quality. The materials chosen by the brand are of excellent quality, and the Type S variant offers a little more with unique accents and clean colours. All in all, you get your money's worth on all fronts!
