The Japanese automaker is once again making a name for itself, but this time with the return of the Type S, which had been a success in previous years. Starting this fall, this version will be available on the 2021 Acura TLX sedan with even more innovative and sporty new features.

Acura's new Type S version will further enhance the appearance of the 2021 TLX model with many exclusive exterior features. The front end will feature an open face Diamond Pentagon grille, even larger side air intakes and a significantly more aggressive splitter, while the rear-end will feature a spoiler, a sportier diffuser and large quad exhaust outlets.
Under the hood, the 2021 TLX will drop its latest generation 2.4-litre engine and target its rivals with a fully turbocharged lineup. This engine lineup will start with the standard 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that will produce 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. That's 66 more horsepower than last year's standard four-cylinder engine and 13 lb-ft more torque than last year's optional V6. The 2021 Acura TLX Type S will feature an all-new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6. Acura hasn't announced the official power figures for this V6 engine, but we should certainly think that 375–400 horsepower will align this new model with most competitors.
To complete the picture, the 2021 Acura TLX Type S will offer exclusive 20-inch wheels with two options: a split 10-spoke Type S Concept and an NSX-inspired “Y-Spoke”. Inside, the Type S will also come with a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
All in all, things are about to change for Acura's best-selling sedan, as the 2021 TLX will feature a new design and a much-anticipated performance variant; visually, the sporty spirit of the original TLX model lives on in the 2021 model, but it will feature a design gleaned from Acura's Precision Concept and the Type S Concept. The redesign will include a larger hood, a sharper roofline and glass, revised accent lighting and Jewel Eye LED headlights, and much more. The TLX sedan will also increase in width by 2.2 inches and its wheelbase will increase by 3.7 inches.
Inside, the 2021 TLX will gain with a new design featuring a sportier look and feel with its available flat-bottomed steering wheel, a curved dashboard with more cut-outs and contrasts, a thick centre console and an infotainment screen on the dashboard. In terms of technology and functionalities, we're now talking about a standard 7-inch multi-information display, True Touchpad Interface infotainment control, 10.5-inch head-up display, 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection and more.
The 2021 TLX will continue to offer the A-Spec version, high-gloss black exterior accents, darkened headlights and taillights, and a rear spoiler. Inside, the A-Spec will also include the aforementioned flat-bottomed steering wheel.
All 2021 TLX models will be available with a 10-speed automatic transmission; 2.0-litre models will be equipped with standard front-wheel drive and the optional Super Handling Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD); without surprise, the Type S model will come with the SH-AWD.
Finally, the 2021 TLX model will be equipped with the AcuraWatch line of safety features, which will include automatic emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control with low-speed tracking, congestion assistance, etc.
